Follow the Psych by Keenan Takahashi

Sometimes the heat is too much. Sometimes you have to jet out to maintain psych. Sometimes you find yourself where you wouldn't have expected to: Colorado.

Climbing some nice boulders with Jimmy from a quick trip in September. Problems (in order) Top Notch, Clan of the Cave Bears, and Butterfingers. Cheers to Jimbob and Jeremy Fullerton for the rides and support, and a huge thanks to Kevin and Jackie for hosting us! Song is Plastic Beach by Gorillaz.

A huge thanks to my hosts Jackie and Kevin for having me! Looking forward to next time...

Witness the Swissness by Keenan Takahashi

Good old (gold) granite. Reunited at last. Big crystals, more texture, skin thrashed. Six years since Magic Wood, a lifetime before Brione... but Val Bavona. What even is this place? The supposed single boulder, all the problems are on it... such false tricks.

The reality of potential. Aneurysm-inducing blocs, more than could ever be touched or found, let alone climbed, within a single lifetime. Eyes opened wider than ever, as if the lids were pulled and glued back, wishing for some wider scope to take it in. Never enough time. Future trips planned, still assuredly inadequate but absolutely necessary.

The second half of the Swizz bouldering rampage. Val Bavona, Brione, and a bunch of Magic Wood. Climbers: Jimmy Webb, Mark Heal, Keenan Takahashi Problems: Jamming (0:08) Muttertag (1:00) New Base Line (1:15) Fake Pamplemousse (2:12) Jack's Broken Heart (2:40) Riders on the Storm (3:30) Steppenwolf (4:40) Note: Jimmy doesn't actually donkey-kick-dab Keenan at 3:08, 'twas a clean ascent. Wish I had better footage to prove it but Jimmy climbs boulders so quickly you're lucky if you catch him at all.
